Colour Correction
Color correction refers to the process where every individual clip of a video footage is altered to match color temperature of multiple shots to a consistent technical standard of appearance.
Digital video coloring steps:
- Establish picture profile
- Color correct footage
- Color grade footage
What is color hue?
Hue refers to the color itself. In simplest terms, it’s the difference between red and blue. Your hue can then be altered by saturation and brightness, which we'll cover as soon as we give you a few paragraphs on hue.
Together, hue, saturation, and brightness are known as "HSB." This combination makes up the basic color concerns of any video image.
Hues don’t always have to be vivid, primary colors.
What is color saturation?
Saturation refers to the intensity of the color. This is determined by the amount of grey in the hue, from pure grey, to a vivid color.
Saturation is where you really get to make your colors "pop," or, at the other end of the spectrum, become "muddy." Believe it or not, this is all due to the amount of grey information in the color. Seems simple, right?
If you add pure white or pure black to your color, you’ll get a darker or lighter brightness value, which is our next category.
What is color saturation?
Saturation refers to the intensity of the color. This is determined by the amount of grey in the hue, from pure grey, to a vivid color.
What is color brightness?
Brightness refers to the level of light in your color. This determines the difference between, say, burgundy and candy apple.
1. White Balance
White balance is the same thing in your camera as it will be in coloring programs. It describes the color temperature of your image.Your white balance should be one of the first things you do, because it will affect every single decision you make from there on out.
2. Scopes You will want to use scopes (Waveform, Parade, Histogram, Vectroscope) to give you some extra value color info that you didn’t see initially.Scopes are a monitoring tool that show color and light information on a graph so that you can see the precise balance of these characteristics and how they compare to one another.
3. Curves Curves are helpful for precise color correction and color grading, and you will want to pair these with your scopes.
With curves, you can add points to drag colors to new values, and change shadows, midtones, and highlights with much more precision.
4. Color Match Color match allows you to choose a reference image that will then be analyzed and applied to your target image.
This is an automatic calculation, so it is important to check your scopes and use your judgement as to the quality of the color match.
5. Three-Way Corrector Three-way color correctors are a useful tool for many colorists in professional entertainment, but they have their pros and cons.
The three-way color corrector lets you balance the shadows, midtones, and highlights of an image using color wheels. You can set numerical values, or use the control drag point to set your value based on hue.
6. Color Qualifiers Color qualifiers give you the chance to change a particular color, or range of colors, without changing the rest of the picture.
7. Color Masks In the DaVinci program, color masks are called Power Windows. These work a lot like masks in Adobe Photoshop. You can designate a shape to isolate its colors.

Mise en scène is a French term that translates literally to "placing on stage." In the realms of theater, film, and other visual storytelling mediums, it refers to the overall visual arrangement and presentation of a scene. This concept encompasses everything that appears within the frame or on stage and how these elements are organized to convey meaning, emotion, and narrative to the audience.
Key Components of Mise en Scène
- Setting and Location:
- Physical Space: The environment where the action takes place, whether it's a realistic setting like a living room or an abstract, symbolic space.
- Time Period: The era in which the story is set, influencing costumes, props, and set design.
- Props and Objects:
- Items used by characters or present in the scene that can symbolize themes, indicate character traits, or advance the plot.
- Costume and Makeup:
- Clothing and makeup that reflect a character’s personality, social status, occupation, or psychological state.
- Lighting:
- The use of light and shadow to create mood, highlight specific elements, and guide the audience’s focus. For example, high-contrast lighting can create a dramatic or tense atmosphere.
- Composition and Framing:
- How elements are arranged within the frame or on stage, including camera angles in film or the positioning of actors in theater. This affects how the audience perceives relationships and power dynamics.
- Performance and Acting:
- The actors’ physical movements, facial expressions, and interactions contribute significantly to the mise en scène, conveying emotions and subtext.
- Color Palette:
- The selection of colors used in costumes, sets, and lighting can evoke specific emotions or symbolize thematic elements.
- Spatial Relationships:
- The distance and arrangement between characters and objects, which can indicate intimacy, conflict, or hierarchy.

At the same time, as a producer, I have undertaken a lot of coordination work, including budget allocation, team management and scheduling. In the process, I learned how to optimize the shooting process as much as possible with limited resources to ensure that the project proceeded according to plan. Especially when encountering some emergencies, such as weather changes or site problems, I also learned to adjust the plan flexibly. These practical experiences make me realize the importance and challenge of the producer's work, and the need to balance artistic creation and practical conditions.
Throughout the project, I constantly reflected on how to better combine artistic expression with the theme of travel. I found that travel is not only a change of location, but also a kind of mental adjustment and a new experience. Therefore, when shooting, I pay special attention to capturing the emotional expression of travelers, such as surprise, curiosity, and even occasional confusion in a strange environment. These delicate emotions make the picture more infectious and make the audience feel an immersive experience.
Through this project, I not only improved my visual planning and coordination ability, but also had a deeper understanding of the core meaning of the travel theme. I believe that these gains will have a positive impact on my future creation, so that I can better integrate art and theme in my works and bring the audience a deeper visual experience.
